Alive and Dead: a concept stemming from Schrodinger’s cat, the thought experiment where quantum mechanics portrays a paradox of being alive and dead at the same time. It’s about uncertainty, where one tiny particle of matter can change the outcome of an entire event.
In entrepreneurship, you can be alive and dead at the same time. When you are on top of the world and have built, “The Next Big Thing”, the new “Next Big Thing” may be being built in some college dorm room, just waiting to take you out and end your reign. On the bright side, when you are calling it quits on an idea you have cultivated for months (or even years), there is still the glimmer of hope that somehow, someway, you can use the knowledge and experience you’ve gained, combine in with the network you’ve amassed, and succeed with your next venture.
However, uncertainty can’t be shunned. It can’t be hidden, feared, or hated. It must be embraced. This is what life is all about. You can never be certain whether you are going to succeed or fail, but if you do nothing, you CAN be certain that you are going to get nothing in return. A true entrepreneur will embrace uncertainty and accept failure as gaining experience. To an entrepreneur, there is no failure, only success and learning.
Our goal with DeadNAlive is to inspire action. We want people to come together and tackle the world’s problems head on. We want more people to take that leap of faith and become entrepreneurs. We want to eradicate the word “failure” from everyday language and replace is with “learning”.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas Edison
